BTS's Jimin goes against gender norms in new photoshoot

He wore a skirt for the first set of "Butter" concept photos.

When BigHit Music released BTS’s concept photos for the first version of the “Butter” CD single, Jimin’s look caught fans by surprise because he was sporting red hair and a simple white top. The hair color reminded ARMYs of his look during the “Dope” era.

But the real highlight of his outfit wasn’t even the fur boots on his feet. It was actually the Maje Navy Wrap-effect tartan twill mini skirt around his waist. It used to be available on Net-A-Porter (click here to view its product description), but it’s currently sold out. Jimin wore it with a cut down the middle that gave fans a glimpse at the denim shorts he had on underneath.

ARMYs loved Jimin’s look and complimented him on going against gender norms in their latest set of concept photos. They said that Jimin helped put an end to toxic masculinity by wearing women’s clothing.

This isn’t the first time Jimin used fashion to defy gender norms. In the concept photos for Map of the Soul: 7, he wore a leather corset. As per Wikipedia, a corset is “a garment worn to hold and train the torso into a desired shape. Both men and women are known to wear corsets, though this item was for many years an integral part of women's wardrobes.”

Jimin has come a long way. In a previous interview, he admitted to feeling like he had to act and look a certain way to be considered masculine.

These days, he’s much more confident about being himself regardless of gender norms. He inspires people around the world to be unapologetically authentic no matter what.
