SummerSongs Camp features youngsters who perform original songs.

Singing Camp is a week-long event that brings together people who love to sing.

SummerSongs is an annual gathering of 70 singers aged 30 and up who gather in Stony Brook, New York (about 30 miles north of New York City) in late July for a weekend of singing. In the Hudson River Valley for a week, music lovers may immerse themselves in songwriting, singing, and performance under the guidance of a faculty of nationally acclaimed songwriters and touring musicians. The retreat is open to anybody who enjoys music.

ADULTS OVER THE AGE OF 50 WHO ARE ACTIVE

Camping in the great outdoors

Attend the five-day Active Older Adults camp, which takes place in late August at Camp Chief Ouray, if you want to relive your childhood memories or if you want to experience an old-style summer camp for the first time. Mountain, valley, stream, and meadow landscapes characterize the 5,150-acre YMCA camp in Granby, Colorado, which is approximately 1.5 hours northwest of Denver and close to Rocky Mountain National Park. Hiking, rafting, archery, canoeing, fishing, and a variety of other sports are included in the excitement.

Campers between the ages of 50 and 64 pay $345 in fees, while those 65 and above pay $325. In one of the Snow Mountain Ranch lodges, you will be accommodated in double rooms with private bathrooms. (If you don't already have a roommate, you'll be assigned one; alternatively, you can upgrade to a private room for an extra $175 each semester.) In order to participate in the camp, you must register after January 1st of the following year. Call (970) 887-2648 for more information.

ESCAPE CAMP (ESCAPE CAMP)

EXIT ESCAPE CAMPS

A week-long sports and fitness camp for adults is being conducted at Amherst College this summer, which is tucked in the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. ESCAPE camp is now in its 38th summer season. Over 30 activities are available, including morning walks, canoeing, kayaking, water volleyball, rock-wall climbing, stand-up paddling, and yoga — with energetic days topped off with an hour of socializing after (adult beverages included).

Those interested in overnight camp can stay on campus for a week in a single or double dorm room for $1,400 (for either single or double occupancy), which includes all meals and accommodation as well as a fitness exam, instruction, and activities. The fee is reduced for campers who just stay for a day or a portion of a week. Fill out an online form to obtain more information about the camp's upcoming summer session (June 7-13, 2020).

The CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of culinary arts in the United States.

Camp for Cooking

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) conducts a series of two- to five-day boot camps at its many campuses around the country for foodies and those looking to enhance their cooking abilities in a fun and interactive environment. Cooking boot campers work side by side with CIA chef instructors during the five-day Plant-Powered Cooking Boot Camp in Hyde Park, New York, to learn about the ingredients that support a plant-based lifestyle, such as umami-rich mushrooms and protein-packed legumes, as well as recipes and cooking techniques. Another popular alternative is the two-day Grilling and BBQ Boot Camp in San Antonio, Texas, which takes place every other year or so.

The plant-powered camp will cost $2,500, while the cooking and BBQ camp would cost $925. There is one snag: there are no accommodations included. (The majority of guests will be staying at nearby hotels.) Call toll-free: 800-888-7850.

QUIMBY COUNTRY is a country with a lot of quirks.

Camp is a classic.

The 125-year-old Quimby camp, located on 1,000 acres in Vermont's Great North Forest, is dedicated to assisting people of all ages in disconnecting from technology and enjoying the vast and untouched environment that surrounds them. Stay in one of 19 cabins, each named after a different fly-fishing lure, and fill your daily itinerary with activities ranging from massages to baking courses, among other things. In case you want to do anything different (like relaxing on the screened porch of your cabin, watching loons on the lake while reading a novel), there are bikes and canoes available, as well as counselors who can take your children or grandchildren fishing or hiking.

Cabins are available for rent for $100 to $160 per night (including breakfast) throughout the early and late summer months. Some cabins are equipped with kitchens. This resort is all-inclusive during the summer high season, with rates ranging from $210 to $230 per night for a single person (including a cabin and all meals). For first-time guests, the camp also provides "get to know you" discounts of up to 25% off the regular rate. Call 802-822-5533 for more information.
