Try This Fun Exercise: Parkour for Seniors

Falls in seniors occur as a result of diminished strength, balance, and flexibility.

Parkour is a sport that originated in France in the late 1980s and involves the use of body motions to effectively and artistically overcome barriers in the surroundings. Parkour devotees see it as a mindset as much as physical activity; their surroundings are large playgrounds with obstacles to maneuver on, through, over, and around, combining running, leaping, climbing, and rolling.

Parkour meetups can already be found in many locations, and there is a drive to make the sport more accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities. Dogs can even participate in parkour. The expansion of parkour programs for adults 50 and older is possibly the most startling development.

According to Blake Evitt, the director of Parkour Generations Boston and a former student of the sport's founders in France. He claims that in Europe, there were usually one or two pupils with gray hair in class, but in the United States, the emphasis is on adrenaline-fueled YouTube videos of young guys.

According to the Author Of PK Silver, most falls in seniors do not happen when do they extreme tasks but instead, it happens while doing their regular routine. This data is also supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as more than one in 4 adults and older fall every year.

There are many fall prevention programs but for some who have tried parkour, they claim that its more fun. This was also the main reason why it attracted many seniors.
