Thinking Of Going Back to College?

US Residents can study college at a discount or even for free in some states.

You have had your last day at work and said goodbyes to your younger colleagues and you are probably thinking about what's next for you. But you feel like there is still so much more you can do. You probably miss doing paperwork or being around many people.

Why don't you go back to school and learn more skills? If you are wondering the ins and outs of going back, here are some tips for you.

Enroll in University for free. When looking to return to school on a budget, one option is to find colleges and universities that provide retirees with senior citizen tuition waivers. In all 50 states in the U.S., there is at least one university that offers if not free, discounted tuition for those who are over 60.

But do remember that only the tuition is free, there might still be minor expenses to handle.

Do Online Programs. If you are the type who just wants to stay in the comforts of your home and learn at the same time, there are many online classes for you. Online programs may be a good choice if you are tech-savvy and have difficulties driving to campus for physical classes.

Taking online education programs at home on your own computer is one of the most cost-effective and convenient methods to broaden your knowledge in a topic of interest. Some of the greatest venues to take free online courses include Harvard University, Coursera, and EDX. Many online classes are taught by well-know professors in their respective fields.

Retired Individual Program. For some, studying with other people might not be comfortable. Some also have a tight budget as they only live with their pension and probably couldn't afford even a discounted tuition. Don't worry, there are programs designed for you.

There are college campuses that provide programs tailored to retirees and older adults at a fraction of the cost of traditional college tuition. Non-credit, non-graded classes aimed at individuals over 50 are available at Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (OLLIs) on campuses like California State University, Duke University, University of Pittsburgh, and Colorado State University, just to name a few.

These are just some of the portions you can look into. To have more information contact you local education office, for sure there are many offers for a retiree like you.
