BLACKPINK’s Rosé was in full bloom at the 2021 Met Gala

Rosé made fashion history with her Met Gala debut

Watch out, New York City. Rosé is in your area, and she's here to make her mark in the fashion world. Fans have long suspected that the BLACKPINK member would attend the 2021 Met Gala, and their suspicions were confirmed when she turned up on the red carpet.

Being invited to the Met Gala means something. It cements your status as an influential person because it’s an invitation-only event that only the who’s who get to attend. This year's Met Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Sept 13 and was the first part of a two-part exhibition. The second part will open on May 5, 2022, and will be called “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”

The 2021 Met Gala was hosted by Vogue's Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour. It was co-chaired by Amanda Gorman, Billie Eilish, Naomi Osaka, and Timothée Chalamet.

The theme of the event was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and celebrities were encouraged to showcase independence through fashion. They were given the liberty to dress up in anything related to American independence, such as the colors red, white, and blue.

Rosé wore a black Yves Saint Laurent dress with a sleek, eye-catching white bow to make a statement. Her being at the event was a historical moment for the K-Pop world. She was one of the first South Korean artists invited to the event, aside from former 2NE1 member CL.

This is a breakthrough for female South Korean artists since only male artists like Psy and EXO’s Lay scored invites before. It's high time for the ladies of South Korea to get their turn in the spotlight.

She didn't come alone since she graced the event with Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of Yves Saint Laurent. She is a global ambassador for the brand and collaborates with others. During the event, she was seen hanging out with American supermodel Gigi Hadid.

BLINKs from all around the world were thrilled when they saw her walk the red carpet in New York City. Apart from being a multi-hyphenate, she’s set to soar even higher now that she has already made fashion history.
