Spotlight on Shin Hyunseung

Check out this rising star who made his first drama debut as a lead character in a Netflix sitcom!

Shin Hyunseung did not expect to have his debut work in television as a big lead character, as he mentioned before that he is content with any role as long as he can portray it to the best of his abilities. However, looks like the fates have different plans and after his web drama, he was offered to be a part of a Netflix sitcom, not as a supporting role, but as a lead character.

Netflix's Korean sitcom So Not Worth It follows the stories of different international students studying in Korea, each with different issues and concerns in life, and shows how friendship and camaraderie can make you feel at home away from your home. The sitcom was produced and directed by the same team that gave us the High Kick series, which is legendary because it brought up stars such as Park Minyoung, Yoon Siyoon, Shin Sekyung, Seo Shin-ae, Kim Bum, Jung Ilwoo, and many others to the forefront before they went on to become one of the most respected actors and actresses in the Korean entertainment industry.

Let's get to know more about Shin Hyunseung, the rising star of Korean sitcoms.

Shin Hyunseung's journey towards acting started when he was picked out of 5000 applicants to be the male lead in a Kakao M drama. This soon became his first ever challenge towards acting, getting the main role in Be My Boyfriend, which was aired in Kakao TV. He mesmerized the viewers with his breathtaking looks and a fresh approach to the main role as a high school student.

Soon after, he received an offer to be in a Netflix sitcom So Not Worth It, again getting the main role as Jamie, the adopted son of a famous Hollywood actress who sneaked back to Korea to study college as a normal student. Again, he captivated the viewers with his funny charms, a handsome face, and good acting chops to boot.

He was offered managing rights by C-JeS, the agency that houses Ryu Junyeol, Choi Min-sik, Hwang Jung-eum, Ra Miran, and many other actors in the Korean entertainment industry after his stint in So Not Worth It.

When asked by Jo Jungsik in the YouTube variety show Official Request why he chose the role, he said that someone told him that he cannot be a male lead in a romantic drama but his face is perfect for a sitcom. We guess he made the right choice, and now he is receiving love and support from everyone.

As of now, he has no projects lined up, but with his performance in So Not Worth It, we are sure that it's going to pour a lot on him. Meanwhile, you can follow him on his Instagram account, where he posts his modeling gigs aside from his daily life shots. We cannot wait for him to become a huge star in the near future!
