Mnet airs clip of Lee Chaeyeon's emotional breakdown

'Street Woman Fighter' will be full of drama.

As the air date of Street Woman Fighter draws near, Mnet continues to promote the show by dropping one teaser after another.

Street Woman Fighter is Mnet’s first-ever survival show to feature all-female dance crews. Eight such crews will battle it out to become No. 1. They will showcase various genres of street dance, such as breakdancing, hip-hop, krumping, locking, and waacking.

Kang Daniel—himself an accomplished dancer who started b-boying even before he became an idol—is the show’s MC. BoA and NCT’s Taeyong have been named as two of the judges, while IZ*ONE alum Lee Chaeyeon will be participating in the show as a member of one of the dance crews.

Mnet dropped a first teaser on July 26, which featured appearances by the judges, the MC, and K-pop stars CL, Jessi, and PSY. Check it out below.

On August 2, Mnet posted a second teaser, in which the contestants had to choose the dancer they thought would be the weakest. As expected, plenty of drama ensued when the contestants started talking about the difference between dancers and idols. “I think we dancers are different from idol groups because, well, the purpose of practicing dancing is very different,” said one.

In the teaser, Chaeyeon appeared to be wearing stickers that bore the words, “NO RESPECT” in big, block letters—presumably because most of the other dancers pronounced her the weakest one there. She was then seen crying in the next scene, saying tearfully, “I don’t think I can dance anymore.”

IZ*ONE fans and casual viewers were incensed by what happened. They took to SNS to air their views. One netizen wrote, “I feel like this show will be the dance version of Unpretty Rapstar. I definitely think this will get more views than Girls Planet 999.”

Another one said, “OMG, what’s happening to Chaeyeon? This is too much drama.”

In addition to Chaeyeon’s tears, netizens were also shocked when one of the contestants was seen disrespecting one of the show’s judges. K-pop superstar BoA was talking when this contestant cut her off by saying, “I apologize, but I think I have to cut you off mid-sentence.”

When BoA asked if she could continue what she was saying, the contestant refused. “No, I’ll just say one thing. I’m sorry, Ms. BoA,” she said.

A netizen wrote, “She’s going to interrupt BoA just like that? OMG, how rude. BoA has to be much more experienced than that girl and she’s also her senior by many years. And she’s just going to cut BoA off like that? Unbelievable.”
