Kim Jong Kook and Cha Taehyun to Host New MBC Idol Survival Show

This show puts a refreshing twist to the meaning of "idol survival show."

Kim Jongkook and Cha Taehyun will host a new MBC idol survival show, its first time after Under 19 hosted by Kim Sohyun aired on the network.

Called Wild Idol, this show gives a whole new meaning to the word "idol survival show".

As they battle it out in the great outdoors for the chance to make their television debut, the program will evaluate candidates based on their physical stamina, skill level, and hidden potential.

The show will involve a studio panel of celebrities who will be watching footage of the contestants in the wild, in addition to its unconventional boot-camp-style training. This will be a first for idol audition shows, and it will be a refreshing change from the normal structure.

The panelists include some K-pop idols such as Infinite's Sunggyu and Brave Girls' Yujeong, with actress Lee Sunbin and more guests joining in the mix.

A teaser for the show was already released, showing the different things idol survival contestants have gone through in hopes of debuting in the group. This is not MBC's first time doing idol survival reality shows, with Under 19 giving birth to 1THE9, a boy group that disbanded last year.
