BTS "Butter" Dethrones Olivia Rodrigo in Billboard Hot 100 For The Longest-Running No.1 Song for 2021

Only BTS broke their own records in the chart.

On August 2 local time, BTS's smash track "Butter" remained at No. 1 on Billboard's legendary Hot 100 chart—its weekly ranking of the most popular singles in the United States—for the ninth week in a row.

Notably, BTS's own song "Permission to Dance" only broke "Butter's" unprecedented nine-week streak for one week, meaning BTS has now led the Hot 100 for ten weeks in a row.

With this achievement, "Butter" has now surpassed Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License" as the year's longest-running No. 1 hit. It is important to note that from January to March this year, "Drivers License" was at the top of the rankings for eight weeks.

“Butter” also managed to keep its place as the best-selling song of the week. According to MRC Data, the song generated 30.5 million radio airplay audience impressions, 8.1 million streams, and 112,900 downloads, holding it at No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart for the ninth week in a row.

In addition, "Butter" remained at No. 21 on Billboard's Radio Songs chart and No. 44 on the Streaming Songs chart during the week ending August 7.

Meanwhile, "Permission to Dance" was still doing well on the Billboard charts. In addition to remaining at No. 9 on the Hot 100, the single also remained at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week.

Job well done, BTS!
